Those animals whose necropsies are feasible (recent deathand small size) are brought to the Plentzia Marine Station (PiE-UPV/EHU) in order to perform a dissection and take samples of all organs and tissues. The obtained samples are saved in the tissue biobank of the University of the Basque Country BBEBB (Biscay Bay Environmental Biospecimen Bank).
AMBAR society carries out theoretical and practical training. This way the members are introduced to the activity and they acquire the required knowledge to participate.
The body remains of dissected animals are removed by a specialized company thanks to the collaboration of the Plentzia town hall.
